About Us
Friends of Sywell Country Park is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation, protection and improvement of the park’s natural, physical and social environment. We support initiatives that enhance the park and improve recreation and leisure in the interests of social welfare, with the aim of improving the quality of life for people living in the surrounding area.
Our Board of Trustees includes members of the Ranger team and committed volunteers, all of whom are united by a shared passion for the park and its future. We work closely with North Northamptonshire Council, to raise funds and deliver projects that enhance the park for its residents and visitors alike. All the money we raise goes directly back to park projects.
What We Do
As a charity, FoSCP’s prime function is to raise funds and manage them inline with our charitable objectives. We are able to direct spending towards projects in the park, either fully funded by us or, where appropriate and feasible, by part funding initiatives with NNC.
Our Volunteers come from very diverse walks of life, mixing their varied “day job” skills, with a shared love conservation and community. Many of the projects we undertake would not be possible without the time, dedication and knowhow provided these Volunteers. All in return for a cup of tea and a biscuit.
We also work with corporate sponsors, that help fund specific projects, whilst providing working parties though their corporate social responsibility schemes.
Ably directed by the Rangers, we create and manage wildlife habitats, build and maintain play equipment, or investigate and restore some of the reservoir’s hidden features.
